Good local Thai dishes. The restaurant only uses good quality products and offers an elevated twist to classic Southern cuisine. Slightly pretentious. But they make it up with great service and charming staff. It‘s one of the few places on Koh Tao that is not mainly frequented by Westerners. At least the night we went I was the only Westerner in the restaurant. Make sure you book in advance. Especially when you want to sit outside.

When we talk about Southern Thai food, most people probably imagine bold, fiery, punch-you-in-the-face flavors, the kind that make some folks (myself included!) instinctively take a step back. But here at this place, Mama is the bridge between tradition and understanding her diners. As soon as you arrive, Mama herself comes out to greet you. She’ll ask who can’t handle spicy food, then explain each dish in detail what’s in it, and how she’ll adjust it just for you. Here’s what we had today Dry-aged fish sashimi Mama’s chili dip (her signature!) Southern-style coconut curry Crispy garlic fried fish Shrimp stir-fried with fermented shrimp paste Stir-fried bai liang with egg And a special treat > catfish curry < something Mama usually only makes for her own family but lovingly shared with us. This is Southern food in a version I could actually enjoy. The flavors are still deep and true, but the heat, saltiness, and intensity were gently balanced to suit different palates without losing the soul of the cuisine. So if you’re ever in Koh Tao and craving real Southern food, come find Mama. Let her cook for you. You won’t just leave full, you’ll leave feeling taken care of.

Such a lovely place with delicious food and impeccable service! Every single dish is very well curated and gave us a good taste of Southern Thai cuisine. The owner, Mama, seems to be there quite often and has definitely put her heart and soul into this place. I have to mention Mook, our waitress, as she did an amazing job explaining each dish we had in great detail and assisting us all throughout the experience. She is very patient and has great customer service skills. My friend requested to lower the spice level of one dish and Mook proceeded to offer a tasty alternative without hesitation. The other waiter was also very sweet and attentive, we just had less communication with him! PS. I recommend going for sunset - the view is stunning.

Came here by accident because I went to their cocktail bar (Varbi) and had a chat with manager mook that there is a chef’s table here as well. Last and best meal of the trip. Forget about Thai food catered to tourist palate. Expect an authentic homely culinary experience by a Southern Thai Mama

Excellent little restaurant right on the beach. It’s easy to reach and offers a set menu at 850 baht per person, featuring delicious local dishes made mostly with fresh, locally sourced ingredients and a creative touch from the chef. The staff speak very good English, and one of the waiters truly stood out. He seemed to anticipate every need and always responded without us even having to ask. A couple of small drawbacks: the drinks menu is extensive but includes only one beer option, and the bar next door plays music at a high volume, which can affect the atmosphere. Overall, though, we had a great time and would definitely come back.
